Might be worth checking if the behavior is the same as in the folly implementation

Here and here is folly implementation and the only difference is what we consider a whitespace. Folly considers only [' ', '\n', '\r', '\t'] as whitespace and we use isspace docs which also treats weird characters like \v or \f and locale-specific characters as whitespace.
