We had a bug here - keyserverConnectionStatus was always false

can we name it like isKeyserverConnected? currently keyserverConnectionStatus suggests it's an object or a string, not a boolean
isKeyserverConnected definitely suggests a boolean

it's also not readable later when calling this function:
in one place we have:

const online = threadSpecs[threadInfo.type].protocol.calendarIsOnline(
      socketState,
      keyserverConnectionStatus.status === 'connected',
    );

then in a second place:

const online = threadSpecs[threadInfo.type].protocol.calendarIsOnline(
      socketState,
      keyserverConnectionStatus,
    );

I thought at the beginning in the second place you passed an object and it was a bug (but after further reading it's not)
And as you noticed we had a similar bug before
